Wattleseed a superfood!
Wattleseed Acacia spp. has been consumed by aboriginal people for thousands of years.
The Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (now Agri futures Australia) in 2009 did extensive research on some of the most known of the Australian native foods at that time. The research showed some very nutritionally positive aspects of wattleseed. It’s high in protein and carbohydrates and has a wide range of important minerals to support health and wellness.
Wattleseed has a low glycemic index; meaning it is slowly digested, absorbed and metabolised. This results in a lower and slower rise in blood glucose levels.
