There’s something special about gathering with loved ones and best friends around the fire in the great outdoors. Savouring food cooked on an open flame or BBQ just smells and tastes like nothing else. From the romantic allure of a sunset beach BBQ to the camaraderie of a Bush BBQ among friends. These occasions offer memories that linger long after the last embers fade. I still remember one occasion such as this on the Sunshine Coast, Qld, it was just perfect. We cooked a “just caught” fish in paperbark with a multitude of herbs and vegetables.

Having worked many years in hospitality the one standout thing is the greens that are pretty much always left of a man’s plate! They just wont eat them and I talking about grown men, not little boys!

This is a traditional salad and there’s so many variations, but this is mine and I really love the flavour the Dijonnaise dressing adds to this wonderful salad.

A great combo of flavours and. crunchiness. I often have this just a meal in itself. Its a really good salad to have for lunch and if you want a protein, some roasted or BBQ chicken is a great addition

Old oil drums have been a DIY BBQ way for many years. A friend of mine got her old hot water drum halved, when. it was replaced and used that. It was also a great outdoors fire pit as well as a BBQ. Must admit I’m all for reusing items as long as it’s done in a safe way.
Brick BBQ Pit
The Brick BBQ has embraced many a backyard and I can still remember my “not-so” DIY dad creating one for us. A rustic and traditional way to enjoy the outdoor BBQ experience, giving us all memories forever.
Smoker Box
These are small metal boxes with vents that can be placed on a gas or charcoal drill to smoke food. Great for slow-cooked meats to infuse that wonderful smokey flavour.
Kamado Grill
Egg-shaped ceramic grills grills known for their ability to grill, smoke and bake. They provide heat retention with provide fantastic cooked results.
Wood-fired Pizza Ovens
These have gained so much popularity in recent years. A slight drift from the traditional BBQ. Mainly used for wood-fired pizza, simply delicious. They can also be used for grilling meats and vegetables. Using wood they give a unique smokey flavour to all the food, not to mention their own unique aroma whilst cooking.
Hibachi Grill
Hibachi grills are small, portable charcoal grills used mainly for table top grilling. Really works for cooking small portions of food quickly. If you want a romantic intimate dinner or an outdoor picnic then the Hibachi Grill is a really fun option.
